A fortified Tudor manor dating to around 1500 (with earlier fortifications on the site since the Dark Ages), seat of the Wynn family during the Tudor and Stuart periods; hosted King George V and Queen Mary in 1899. Its 1640s carved panelling was sold to William Randolph Hearst in 1921 and later reinstalled by the current owners in 1998.
